Started by the late Victor A Loane in 1928, Loane Transport Ltd has been involved in road haulage up to the present day. The first truck which was a Sentinel, was used to haul petrol in two gallon cans from Belfast to the few retailers at that time in County Fermanagh. Over time, the fleet grew to six trucks predominately hauling livestock. Transport was nationalised in 1935. On de-nationalisation in 1965, the haulage resumed.

His son, Brian V Loane, took the reins in 1966 hauling livestock and general cargo along side his general merchant business in Kesh. The first artic, a Leyland Beaver, was acquired to fulfil a contract with the Electricity Board hauling underground cable covers throughout Northern Ireland.

The Leyland was replaced with a Scania in 1970 to haul the cable covers and clay drainpipes further afield including across Great Britain. As time progressed, the fleet was to number seven trucks.

Brian was later joined by his sons Mark and Blakely. Gradually the fleet expanded and diversified to predominantly refrigerated transport throughout Europe including Scandinavia and Russia. When the agriculture industry was decimated by foot and mouth disease followed by BSE, the decision was taken to cease the European operation. Ireland and the United Kingdom became the focus of the operation.

The fourth generation is now involved in the day to day running of the company. Our expertise now lies in general haulage between Ireland and the United Kingdom. Offering transport throughout the United Kingdom and Ireland, our company operates a modern fleet which specialises in full loads and all trailers are designed to operate up to 44,000kg. Loane Transport are geared to handle various types of transport and are continually investing in new equipment and technology in order to stay ahead in their field.
